JOB DESCRIPTION

The apprentice position will assist the Chief and Lead Engineer in maintaining the proper, safe, and efficient operation of the central plant and air-conditioning equipment provided for the supply of hot water and steam, and for heating, ventilating and air-conditioning of the CityPlex towers. This position is a great opportunity to gain valuable industry-specific experience.

There will be a 90-day probation period for apprenticeship participants that will provide a timeframe for manager and employee assessment and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the operation of the central plant equipment including all boilers, chillers and their auxiliary equipment, pumps, controls, valves, etc., as per the manufacturer’s operating instructions and the relevant rules and regulations for safe and correct working as laid down by the State and Federal authorities.
• Apply all alertness and judgment in timely detection of any malfunctioning equipment which may arise during operation of the plant and notify the Chief and lead Engineer so that prompt and effective action can be taken to rectify the defect and restore normal working conditions.
• Carry out routine maintenance work as per directions of the Chief Engineer and Lead Engineer.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:
Requires a High School diploma or GED.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):
Must be able to obtain City of Tulsa First Class Stationary Engineer License (unlimited) within 1 year of hire.

EXPERIENCE:
Must be able to learn and effectively use all mechanical and computer equipment used in all areas of the department.
