Metro Pavers, Inc. is a local, family owned and operated paving company that has been in business since 1966. Metro Pavers is proud to offer a paid Internship. This is a 7 week program, starting in July that will introduce participants to the paving industry.
Participants should be entering their senior year fall 2023 or have graduated spring 2023.
Pay rate is $19/Hr.
The program will include:
Instructor Lead Classroom Training
- Topics include Safety, PPE use, First Aid, AED, CPR, OSHA regulations, basic tools, materials, and equipment used in the paving industry. Concrete properties, quality control, and concrete paving operations. Tape measure usage, basic math and how to be an effective team member.
Interns are expected to attend all related job training activities, safety training and are expected to participate in all classroom activities. Mini quizzes shall be given.
On The Job Experiences Include:
- Tape measure use
- Handling and use of tools and materials.
- Paving machine ride-along experience
- Dump truck/mixer truck ride-along experience
- Pre-paving setup
- May assist in loading and off-loading tools, equipment, materials, and other supplies.
- Finishing techniques in concrete
- Proper donning procedures for PPE
Interns are responsible for following all safety rules and regulations as instructed. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn, as instructed. For safety reasons mobile phone are not permitted during class time or while out in the field.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirement
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Must either be entering senior year of high school 2023 or a 2023 graduate.
- Ability to work in all environmental job conditions (hot/cold weather, rainy, dusty, etc.)
- Must be reliable, show-up for work on time and a self-starter.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug test. (This will require parental consent if under 18)
- Must be able to work up to 40 hours per week.
