About the Role:

As a member of the Editorial team, you will spend each day immersed in the private markets, aiming to help our customers be better investors, advisors and market participants. The work you will do plays a direct role in the evolution of the industry!

PitchBook's Emerging Technology Research Internship provides the opportunity to develop your skills and build a strong foundation in private markets research, with an emphasis on emerging technologies in healthcare and other sectors. This role helps with creating best-in-class research utilized by PitchBook's global clientele of private capital investors, investment banks, corporations and other service providers. The Emerging Technology Research Intern works with our multi-site institutional research group to help create research products that build PitchBook's thought leadership brand and drive tangible value for our clients. Our Summer Internship is full-time program (40 hours per week) running from June – August 2023.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop and populate taxonomies of early-stage companies relevant to key themes, e.g. oncology, spacetech
  • Conduct research using PitchBook data, clinical trials data, academic literature, news articles and other publications to identify key drivers for emerging technology adoption
  • Set and achieve a professional development goal during the course of your internship
  • Participate in department-wide analyst meetings by asking questions and preparing a final presentation on work completed during the internship
  • Shadow senior team members in client-facing interactions
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a junior in a higher education program (college or university) majoring in a finance or healthcare-related field
  • Availability to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, from June-August 2023
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques and market sizing
  • Interest in emerging technologies and early-stage companies, particularly in healthcare
  • Interest in private financial markets, particularly venture capital
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to draw analytical conclusions from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Attention to detail and ability to request guidance when needed
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

  • To be considered for the intern position, applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. The company may in its sole discretion extend your contract for a further fixed term period (s) to be agreed by you and the Company.

Compensation

  • Annual hourly rate: $22/hour

  • Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.
