Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Field Engineer, Technician, or Scientist for our field construction quality assurance (CQA) team at a mine reclamation project near Taos, New Mexico. You will work with the mining, minerals, and metals business group out of the Denver, CO office. Become part of a collaborative team with institutional knowledge, subject-matter expertise, and focus upon environmental stewardship. This position has potential for upward mobility for a collaborative team member with leadership ability. Stantec will provide on the job training for in-demand skills to invest in your professional development and career advancement in the consulting industry. The primary focus of this position is to provide construction observation, quality assurance, and data collection as part of a skilled and qualified team. This position will require:

  • Curiosity and creativity to contribute to the success of a multi-year environmental reclamation project at a large mine.

This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients and members of business and professional organizations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Following safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. You will be required to complete the OSHA HAZWOPER training as well as site-specific safety training.
  • Interacting daily with client management, engineering, and field staff to execute reclamation activities.
  • Conducting Stantec CQA activities including field observations, surveying, sample collection, field testing (as needed), and producing daily reports and responding to administrative inquiries.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field at remote sites.
  • Dynamic time management and strategic vision to meet project requirements.
  • Willingness to work long days while onsite for up to 3 weeks per month.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certificate or the ability to obtain after employment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work at an active construction site at an elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level.
  • Capability to carry heavy (up to 50 lbs.) and awkward equipment across uneven terrain.
  • Must have a safe driving record and valid Driver's License.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma (or equivalent)
  • Two years of experience (or schoolwork) working in science, technology, construction, or engineering or a related field is preferred.
