We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to work directly with patients to provide basic medical care in a busy ob-gyn practice. This is a private practice, not a hospital group. This position is a full timeand will be responsible for but, not limited to clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assisting physicians with exams, administering medications, monitoring patient conditions and vital signs, phone triage, and providing emotional support. You must be able to handle stressful situations, like sudden illnesses or emergencies. And you should be friendly and enjoy communicating with others. As a Certified Medical Assistant, your goal is to make sure our patients are as well as possible. If you're interested in helping others and have experience in basic nursing/medical assisting techniques, we’d like to meet you. . You will work under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or doctor. CMA professionals must be first and foremost qualified and compassionate. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing diverse basic care to those who need it while remaining patient and calm. It is a demanding job but also very rewarding.

Responsibilities

• Record a patient’s medical history accurately
• Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.
• Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
• Administer injections, prescribe medications, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assist with other basic medical care tasks
• Collect samples for lab testing as assigned
• Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
• Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort and release instructions
• Phone triage
• Appointment scheduling

Skills

• Proven experience as medical assistant
• CMA/ RMA or CMA /RMA eligible and must be completed within one year
• Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation standards and procedures
• Understanding of confidentiality obligations and best healthcare practices
• Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
• Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have Excellent Attendance
• Compassionate and able to handle stress
• Successful completion of medical assisting program is a must

Job Types: Full-time (4 day, work weeks!!) No weekends or holidays, however, must be able to work at least one 12pm-8 pm shift to cover our evening hours on an as needed basis (Mondays or Thursdays).
