Job Description
At
Veterinary Medical Center of Spring, we strive to continue building our great team culture, with a good work-life balance. You will be working hand in hand with our amazing Medical Director, Dr. Susan Zamora, DVM. Dr. Zamora graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Houston in 2014 and then went on to receive her DVM at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute.
Many of our team members have been with the clinic for years and we’ve treated numerous pets from the time they were kittens and puppies, well into their golden years. We are here with the animals through every stage of their life, offering our experience, support, and guidance. Our goal is to help pets live their happiest, healthiest life by their owner's side. We offer surgeries from routine spays/neuters, and dentals, to more complicated cases. We have ultrasound, cautery, as well as digital radiographs.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at
Veterinary Medical Center of Spring are only offered to veterinary students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.
Veterinary students who are in the
clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view list of stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
