Veterinary Assistant

Description

We would like the person to have a couple years veterinary experience working along with doctors in the exam and treatment rooms.

The Veterinary Assistant role here at The Cat Doctor & Friends consists of helping the Doctors and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT's) throughout the day.
VA Duties Include:

  • Assisting Doctor's in exam rooms and treatment room

  • Assisting RVT's when needed

  • Speaking to clients in a professional manner

Desired Skill Set

  • Blood draw

  • Proper radiology

  • Proper handling of cats

  • Reading medical notes, histories, and medical abbreviations

  • Good communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to type


The above is just a basic skill set and duty list. A Veterinary Assistant is a very valued part of our team with many more skills and duties associated with the VA position.

We do ask that you have a desire to work with just felines. If your skill set is mainly canine, we would be open to train the right person.

The Cat Doctor & Friends is unlike any other veterinary hospital! We focus on one species only. The information you will get here, is very valuable for a career in veterinary medicine. We also really like if you plan to further your career by entering a RVT program or the pursuit of a DVM. Not required for this position. We are happy to work around a school schedule if you are in any of the veterinary programs.


Salary

$18 - $20 per hour
