Description

1. Treat all students, staff, parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience. 2. Assist teacher in: A. Maintaining classroom organization B. Providing support in an inclusion setting C. Reinforcing previously taught concepts as prescribed by the teacher in an individual or small group setting D. Preparing teaching materials, performing clerical responsibilities and making bulletin boards under teacher direction. 3. Perform and maintain behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher (including corrective action with physically aggressive students). 4. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures. 5. Maintain confidentiality of information about students. 6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students. 7. Participate in community outings including use of the Oshkosh Public Transportation System. 8.Work with, direct and provide input back to the teacher when working with student teachers, volunteers, field experience students, and substitute teachers. 9.Assist specialists - art, music, phy-ed, media and speech,occupational and physical therapists. 10.Supervise and assist with bus loading and unloading and possible transfer of students. 11.Administer medications in accordance with school district policy. 12.Supervise students during lunch periods.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or its equivalent. 2. Currently licensed and/or eligible for 0070 - Special Education Program Aide License, may be obtained after hire. 3. Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) techniques or willingness to learn the techniques. 4. Experience working with children in a structured setting preferred. 5. Ability to interact effectively with parents, students, staff, and others encountered on the job. 6. Ability to follow written and verbal directions as provided by teachers and administrators. 7. Ability to perform basic language, writing, and computational skills. 8.Ability to staff the position for the scheduled workday. 9.Possess basic computer literacy and/or willing to expand computer skills. 10.In lieu of the above qualifications, the district may consider appropriate alternatives.
