Substitute Teacher

The Environmental Charter School is seeking candidates for substitute teaching positions. Successful candidates must be progressive minded, and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. For best consideration, candidates should possess relevant teaching experience, a demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning needs, and a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure that all students succeed at a high level.

OVERVIEW
ECS substitute teachers must have strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in their respective field of education, and a strong interest in environmental studies. ECS teachers work in a highly collaborate environment making deep connections with students. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level and specialist teams.

Educational Background and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • PA teacher certification. Out-of-state certification must be approved by the PA Dept. of Education.
  • Familiarity with charter schools and K-10 students
Compensation and Benefits
  • $105.00 per day for day-to-day substitutes
  • $130.00 per day for long term substitutes (single assignment of 4 consecutive weeks or longer)
  • Participation in 403b retirement plan after 400 hours worked.

Clearances current within one year of start date will be required and include Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance (Act 34), FBI Criminal Background Check.
