About This Role:

Pairwise is seeking to hire a motivated part-time Statistician (can be full-time over summer 2023) into its Decision Science group to provide analytics support to our trait testing and field agronomics teams for the development of products. We are looking for candidates enrolled in a statistics major with the ability to work independently and as part of the team. Core responsibilities include experimental design development and statistical analysis in collaboration with principal scientists under supervision of a Senior Data Scientist. In addition, this role will provide the opportunity to expand your knowledge in gene editing and product development. Your contribution will be critical to developing and expanding the role of data driven decision making to enable our product development goals. You will employ various statistical and machine learning methods in a fast-paced environment where cutting-edge technology and employee passion drive rapid achievement of product development goals.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with data and lab scientists in adapting, developing, and applying statistical methods and machine learning approaches to address research problems within Pairwise.
• Design and prepare tables and figures to illustrate analytic findings.
• Generate reports and create presentations.
• Present and interpret data at internal meetings with project leaders.
• Run analytical pipelines for image processing and analytics.
• Bring new techniques and methodologies into the Pairwise research sphere that would improve data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation.

Required Education & Experience:

• Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master’s program in Statistics or closely related field.
• Completion of coursework for experimental design and linear models.
• Proficient knowledge of R and/or python for statistical applications.
• Knowledge of machine learning and general linear model analysis methods is desired.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a large lab setting.
• Ability to work and manage time independently.
