Description
- Ensure the District’s compliance with all federal, state, and local Safety and Health laws, regulations, and codes by administering district-wide Safety Coordinator Program, conducting routine property inspections, coordinating and conducting employee and property accident investigations and safety training as required.
- Develop and conduct various District Safety programs, procedures, and training modules as needed or requested. Conduct Safety Training to District employees throughout the school year, including coordinating the annual safety training to Safety Coordinators, Business Academy, and Operations Department. Coordinate the production of the department safety/loss control newsletter. Review student/visitor incident reports and investigate any safety concern.
- Administer District Safety Coordinator Program including training, on-going communication, and support; coordinate safety incentive program and maintain records of activities submitted and their tallies, assist in the selection and ordering of safety incentive items. Assist with ensuring all campuses and departments are conducting state mandated fire drills monthly; review After Action Fire Drill Reports and investigate any safety concerns or issues as required.
- Conduct employee accident investigations and Workers’ Compensation Trend Analysis; attend Workers’ Compensation Claims Review with Third Party Administrator and Workers’ Compensation Team.
- Interpret regulatory agency laws and environmental issues, ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to loss control.
- Review all environmental and safety hazards reported to Risk Management Services and bring to the attention of appropriate departments.
- Conduct safety and security inspections for schools/facilities, as well as, conducting facility inspections with insurer or as requested. Conduct playground inspections. Monitor corrective actions on inspection recommendations.
- Coordinate office ergonomics and repetitive motion injuries loss prevention program.
- Assist with the state Boiler inspections with Maintenance Services.
- Assist with insurance analysis and inspections of all District-wide property damage claims.
- Assist the Bond program with ensuring safety compliance during periods of construction/renovations.
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, Business, Organizational Management, or any other related field.
- Required valid Texas Driver's License and a record that meets the District's standards.
- 5 years' experience in Industrial Safety, Safety Training Development and Presentation Skills, Loss Control and Accident Prevention.
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Safety Specialist, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred or other equivalent safety certifications and/or experience preferred; Certified First Aid, CPR, AED Instructor preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles, trends, methods, and procedures pertaining to Risk Management, Risk Insurance, Accident Prevention and Loss Control Programs, Insurance Regulations, and Self-Funded Programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laws pertaining to work related injury or illness, school district liability, public safety and Texas Workers’ Compensation Program for loss control and accident prevention.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct on-site safety inspections of district facilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA and NFPA regulation to address moderate to highly complex health complex health and safety issues is necessary.
