Level I: $1600.76 - $1913.06,

Minimum Qualifications/ Employment Standards:
Level I:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
License Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" California driver's license with brake and tank endorsements.
Level II
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and one (1) year of experience equivalent to a Sewer Maintenance Worker I in the Kern County classification system. Training or experience with pumping and/or sewage plant operations is preferred.
License Required
Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" California driver's license with brake and tank endorsements.

As a condition of employment, the incumbent must reside within 30 minutes normal driving time of the Kern Sanitation Authority's wastewater treatment plant located at 4101 Kimber Avenue, Bakersfield, California.
Some Positions May Require:
Attainment of California Water Environment Association certification in appropriate sewer maintenance, mechanical or electrical categories may be required, depending upon assignment.

Examinations:
Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising the applicant's knowledge of basic mathematics, the use of hand tools common to the building trades and other related topics.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Public Works Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.
Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
