Job Description

Summary: The Senior Analyst, Health Improvement and Healthy Aging assists the Director of Health Improvement with implementing federally and privately funded projects important to state and territorial health officials in the area of health improvement, with a focus on advancing equity in healthy aging and brain health.

Location: Remote

Anticipated salary: $74,000 Extended experience: up to $84,000 if experience exceeds expectations

Principal Functions:

  • Serve as project manager to ensure the completion of grant deliverables, including webinars, learning communities, microlearning modules, issue briefs, blogs, and other capacity building activities and resources. This includes managing timelines, coordinating and facilitating calls, engaging with contractors, disseminating resources, identifying and communicating risks, and communicating progress to funders.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to state and territorial health agencies and stakeholders on health improvement issues such as healthy aging and brain health
  • Assist in developing funding proposals, including identifying funding opportunities and conceptualizing deliverables for funding proposals that meet member needs
  • Contribute to project reporting and briefing materials for funders, ASTHO members, and senior staff
  • Collaborate across ASTHO on cross-cutting issues related to health improvement, healthy aging, and brain health
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations
  • Assist with the evaluation of project activities and outcomes
  • Manage logistics for virtual, in-person, and hybrid meetings, including conference calls, workshops, and webinars. This may include scheduling, monitoring registration, coordinating team roles, designing agendas and background materials, producing meeting summaries, and other tasks as needed.
  • Establish and foster strategic relationships with national partners
  • Represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences
  • Provide supervision of a graduate-level intern when funding is available

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 2-3 years of prior relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience that advances health equity and systems change
  • Understanding sensitivity, and appreciation for equity, cultural humility, and inclusiveness
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of colleagues, funders, state/territorial and federal officials
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of state or local public health
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office suite of products
