Job Description

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university (masters preferred)

2. Valid Texas teaching certificate


Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of curriculum of subjects /grade levels assigned such as Carnegie Learning Math and College Board Math Courses
  • Knowledge of Math Discourse and 5E Math model
  • Knowledge of curriculum of subjects/grade levels assigned such as Discovery Science and College Board Science Courses
  • Knowledge of 5E model and Inquiry Based Learning for Science
  • Knowledge and skills for differentiated instructional strategies for gifted and above-level learners, on-level learners, and below-level learners
  • Knowledge and skills for instructional strategies to support Emergent Bi-Lingual Learners in math and science courses
  • Knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Belief in professional learning and continuous improvement


Experience:

  • At least five years of successful secondary classroom experience


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies


  • Collaborate and plan with teaching teams to implement effective and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with campuses to meet the instructional needs based on campus improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with instructional staff to create a collaborative atmosphere that will result in sharing ideas, strategies, practices and resources to improve instruction throughout the campus.
  • Provide embedded professional development that will ensure that all teachers have the knowledge, skills and resources to implement innovative instructional strategies that will improve achievement for all students.
  • Partner with special education and general education co- teachers throughout the campus to develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and reflect strategies and practices for differences in student learning needs.
  • Partner with campus teachers and personnel to develop strategies and practices that meet the needs of varied learners.
  • Work with inclusion co-teachers and support staff in preparing, modifying and focusing instruction to meet the needs of all students.
  • Develop, create and share innovative teaching strategies, manipulatives, resources and research based practices throughout the campus to improve student achievement.
  • Utilize coaching techniques such as modeling, collaboration, observing and providing feedback and teacher support to assist teachers to provide effective teaching practices to improve student achievement.
  • Work closely with instructional excellence team to ensure emphasis on critical standards.
  • Be innovative and creative to develop lessons, activities and resources to meet differentiated needs within a classroom.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Create and develop a safe and open, productive learning community for all instructional staff members.
  • Partner with teachers to create classroom activities that reflect the routinely used accommodations and modifications identified for use with the STAAR state assessment.
  • Utilize data such as formative and summative assessments to drive instruction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.

Student Growth and Development

  • Monitor student progress and meet with teachers to discuss possible interventions.
  • Assist teachers to conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

Management and Organization

  • Assist with student monitor meetings and serve as a resource for such teams when determining individual student needs.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Personal Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
