I. GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies (ICRHPS) at Tufts Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant for June to August 2023 to support various public health research projects this summer focused on advancing environmental justice and health equity in the Asian American communities. One project is aimed at understanding heat stress levels, air pollution, and climate resilient strategies for open spaces in Chinatown Boston. The second project is aimed at understanding the social and financial impact of the “cliff effect” on public benefits for Asian American households in Greater Boston. These projects are in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of stakeholders, including local community-based organizations. The RA will support various aspects of these projects, including literature reviews, survey design, data collection, conducting interviews, quantitative and qualitative data analyses, writing, and science communication.

Supervision and Timeline: The Research Assistant will be supervised by Dr. MyDzung Chu. The appointment is for approximately 30-35 hours/week from June 2022 to early August 2023 (up to 165 hours).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct literature reviews and write-up.
  • Develop and analyze surveys.
  • Conduct interviews and qualitative data analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations to diverse audiences.

III.JOB REQUIREMENTS:

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Interest in community health.
  • Experience in literature review, data management, and data analyses.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in a statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, SAS)
  • Proficiency in computer applications for word processing and spreadsheet preparation in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Greater Boston Asian American communities.
  • Multilingual, able to communicate in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese).
  • Experience conducting interviews and qualitative data analyses.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, at both technical and non-technical levels.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, and solve problems creatively.

EDUCATION:

BA/BS degree required.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in literature review, data management, and data analyses.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
