By joining the Division of Air Quality, Technical Services Branch, Technical Support Section as an Environmental Control Supervisor,in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to (Plans/Assigns/Supervises the Work of Personnel Assigned to the Technical Support Section. Reviews/Evaluates the Work of Section Personnel.).

Holders of the (Environmental Control Supervisor) position will complete tasks such as:
  • Supervise Technical Support Section Personnel Including Assign/Review/Evaluate Work & Monitor Employee Conduct. Adjust Workloads Based on Section Objectives.
  • Provides Technical Assistance to Field Personnel & Div. Staff on Matters Pertaining to Ambient Air Monitoring.
  • Conducts Training Sessions/Prepares Manuals/Bulletins on the Operation/Calibration/Maintenance of Monitoring Equipment. Keeps Up-to-Date on the Latest Technology.
  • Assists In the Development/Implementation of Special Air Monitoring Studies. Participates In Network Reviews/Keeps the Program Up-to Date on Network & Site Status.
  • Attends Training Sessions, Seminars, Meetings, and Workshops as Needed.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities, energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in the physical or biological sciences will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, mineral extraction, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities (such as mine permit preparation and review, sediment pond and hollowfill design), energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
