LITIGATION LEGAL SECRETARY - HOUSTON, TX.

Kean Miller is seeking a Litigation Legal Secretary in our Houston Office.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of state and federal court rules and filing procedures; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; possess excellent organizational, time management, word processing, proofreading, and strong multi-tasking skills. This position would support multiple probate litigation attorneys. Prior experience in probate litigation not required; however, must be able to work well with the team and have a strong desire to learn this area of law.
Duties:
  • Perform word processing of drafts, revisions, and final documents for client-related matters, including correspondence, engagement letters, memoranda, bills, timesheets and project work, as needed. This includes proofreading and redlining work for accuracy of content and format.
  • Work closely with attorneys and assist with the preparation of court filings and organization of pleadings, memoranda, discovery
  • E-files documents with various state and federal courts
  • Maintains files, including organizing electronic filings, served documents, correspondence, and other documents on the firm’s document management system (NetDocs) for active files
  • Open new client/matter client files.
  • Maintain calendars and client contacts.
  • Coordinate travel and meeting logistics including scheduling, arranging videoconferences, conferences calls, and conference rooms; requesting equipment; preparing presentation materials.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum three-five years of experience as a litigation secretary
  • Strong organizational and proofreading skills and an attention to detail
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Experience:
  • Excellent technology skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Comfortable with using large electronic document management systems and remote collaboration tools (Zoom, Skype for Business, WebEx, Microsoft Teams).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both virtually and in-person.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take action without requiring detailed direction in relation to routine responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and to engender trust.
