Position Summary:
The Lead Lifeguard is responsible for supervising the pool and its guests to ensure safety and prevent and/or correct unsafe
conditions.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Performs pool rescues and first aid when necessary.
- Assists in the operation of the aquatic’s facilities.
- Ensures the proper pool maintenance, repair, and troubleshoot the aquatic facilities, pumps, equipment and hardware under the direction of the Facility and Maintenance Coordinator.
- Maintains the cleanliness and chemical balance of pool site.
- Assists in the supervision of all lifeguard duties and any other work-related tasks.
- Assists in supervising the polite enforcement of rules, regulations, and policies to all staff, guests, groups and organizations.
- Assists in the hiring process of all lifeguards and will be responsible for payroll approvals.
- Assists in scheduling of lifeguard shifts by working closely with the Supervisor of Aquatics
- Assists and conducts employee orientations, staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Responds to emergencies according to policy and procedure and completes proper documentation.
- Advises Supervisor of Aquatics and the Coordinator of Facilities regarding conditions/practices that may pose a threat to health and safety.
- Performs professional rescue duties including CPR, First Aid and advanced rescues.
- Assists in supervising the operational duties of lifeguards.
- Assists in some administrative duties such as daily updates of operational logs, reports, and statistical recordkeeping duties.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Two (2) years professional experience as lifeguard.
Education/Training
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Lifeguard Certification from American Red Cross, Lifeguard Pro, YMCA, BSA, and Red Cross First Aid Training.
- Must obtain within 90 days from hirer - Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Program Operator (APO) certification.
