Summary of Responsibilities:
The Veteran Affairs Liaison Lead serves as the primary point of contact to Veterans interested in entering into Mending Fences services. This position will provide peer support services to the Veterans program, including relationship building with community affiliates, organization and other entities providing veterans services in the community and other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Essential Duties:
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for veterans entering the program.
  • Conducts client Orientation and facility tour upon entry.
  • Collaborates with case management for the Veterans continuity of care.
  • Supports and coordinates weekly outing with the recreation staff for the Veteran program clients.
  • Effectively conducts veteran’s educational groups, utilizing lectures, videos and discussions.
  • Develops on property reintegration programs for veterans in our care.
  • Oversees veteran housing program to ensure appropriate living conditions are maintained and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Develops relationships with local Veteran’s Affairs facilities to increase program referrals
  • Educates the community and other providers treating veterans regarding our services and builds a cooperative relationship to improve overall services to the veteran population.
  • Provides information to clinical team on client issues that may be incorporated into the treatment plans of Veteran clients at the discretion of primary therapist and assessment.
  • Provides regular support to veteran clients regarding any issues or concerns raised while in our care.
  • Completes weekly calls to Veteran program alumni and ensures a direct line of communications remains in place.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and completing 20 annual Continuing Education Units per F.A.C. 65D-30
  • Conduct client interventions as needed, including crisis intervention.
  • Understand and follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Executive Director, Executive VP(s), and President.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety rules, guidelines & procedures.
  • Reports directly to the Executive Director.
Necessary Abilities:
  • Is knowledgeable of Client rights and treats all clients with dignity and respect in a consistent manner; adheres to federal confidentiality standards (HIPPA),
  • Understand the principles of addiction and psychiatric treatment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently, and must be thorough and communicate effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and clients.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality to work.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ experience in the Substance Abuse Field
  • Bachelor’s Degree is a social science field or a CAP, CAC, CRPS
  • All employees may be required to work before, during and/or immediately after a natural or man-made disaster
Range:
$55,000 / Salary
