Location: Dallas (Remote)

Our Dallas office is centrally located within the Metroplex, making it convenient and easily accessible for our team members from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. As this is a Part-Time position, this individual is not required to come into the office.

About The Team

The Home Entertainment Creative Team empowers fans to own their anime through premium home video collections. We design and market collectibles on a global scale in close collaboration with Product Development, Sales, and Global Operations to elevate the Global Home Entertainment business. The team is composed of seasoned professionals in Production, Copywriting, and Design, with members based in North America, Australia/New Zealand, UK, France, and Germany. Our initiatives position us as consistent front runners in the industry, constantly innovating in our creative pursuits. As a member of the Copywriting team, you will work with fellow writers, proofreaders, and designers to bring collectible items to life through crafted copy and prepress checks.

About You:

• 4+ years of experience proofreading
• Outstanding grasp of grammar, AP style, with awareness of common vernacular in the anime industry
• Ability to juggle between multiple apps such as Proof HQ, Wrike, Google Drive, and Slack
• Ability to be flexible with working only a few hours some weeks and around 20 hours other weeks.
• Proofing long and short copy, up to 200 page-long books, in a timely manner
• Typographic quality control skills such as recognizing proper kerning, line spacing, etc.
• Experience in pre-press proofreading a big plus but not required

A day in the life of our Freelance Proofreader:

• Proofreading copy docs and adding markup via Google Documents (Suggested Edits tool)
• Checking against databases, internal style guides, and the internet to find accurate information and confirm spelling, terminology, and getting in touch with internal teams to find answers when uncertain
• Proofreading booklets up to 200 pages long and packaging for legal information and fine print, using a digital viewer (Proof HQ)
• Maintaining the internal style guide and any lists or databases as necessary to establish consistency across future prints
• Receive assignments, communicate with the writers, and be aware of occasional rush requests
