Job Description

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university (masters preferred).
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge and skills for differentiated instructional strategies for all learners
  • Knowledge of intervention and strategies and progress monitoring
  • Specific Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP)goal setting process, and implementation
  • Ability to incorporate behavior supports and crisis intervention.
  • Flexibility to change; innovation to meet the needs of all students.

Experience:

  • At least three years of successful classroom experience.


Major Responsibilities and Dutie
s:

Instructional Strategies

  • Provide embedded professional development that will ensure that all teachers have the knowledge, skills, and resources to implement innovative instructional strategies that will improve achievement for all students.
  • Partner with campus teachers and personnel to develop strategies and practices that meet the needs of varied learners.
  • Work with special education teachers and support staff in preparing, modifying, and focusing instruction to meet the needs of all students with disabilities.
  • Develop, create and share innovative teaching strategies, manipulatives, resources and research-based practices throughout the campus to improve student achievement and progress.
  • Utilize coaching techniques such as modeling, collaboration, observing and providing feedback and teacher support to assist teachers in providing effective instructional practices to improve student achievement and progress.
  • Be innovative and creative to develop lessons, activities, and resources to meet differentiated needs within a classroom.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Partner with teachers to create classroom activities that reflect the routinely used accommodations and modifications to support student achievement and progress.
  • Utilize data such as formative and summative assessments to drive instruction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and progress through collecting data.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan and support instructional activities.

Student Growth and Development

  • Monitor student academic and social emotional progress and meet with teachers to discuss possible interventions and strategies.
  • Assist teachers to conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and progress through using a variety of data collection methods.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Support the learning environment of students with disabilities by adapting the environment to support the academic and social emotional needs of students with disabilities.
  • Assist special education and general education staff with student engagement strategies and interventions and serve as a resource when supporting students with disabilities.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences and/or trainings with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to a variety of audiences.

Personal Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
