ECSE Specially Designed Instructional Coach QUALIFICATIONS & DUTIES 1. Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teacher certification in 1 or more areas of special education: Cross-Categorical, Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, Specific Learning Disability, Cognitive Disability or Speech and Language, ECSE licensure preferred. 2. Knowledgeable in WI Model Early Learning Standards, WI DPI Indicators 7 and 12, and Conscious Discipline. Master’s Degree in special education preferred. 3. Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary setting with general and special education staff to connect specially designed instruction to the general education curriculum. 4. High emotional intelligence: ability to interact professionally, tactfully, effectively and courteously with students, parents and staff; self-reflective; professional learner. 5. Possess knowledge and experience in the use of behavior management systems including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and the Response to Intervention (RtI) framework. 6. Develop, coordinate, and implement coaching models and cycles to support special education staff in IEP best practices, implementation of specially designed instruction, and data collection/review. 7. Modeling and coaching for effective practices around root cause analysis of disability related needs and implementation of effective instruction. 8. Knowledge or willingness to train in the transformational coaching model. 9. Experience with evidenced based best practices and willingness to attend professional development opportunities as a district representative to keep current with ongoing special education initiatives. 10. Possess at least 3-5 years experience teaching students with disabilities in multiple areas, early childhood teaching experience preferred. 11. Possess knowledge of legal/procedural requirements of IDEA, comprehensive evaluation, and IEP process to review IEPs, and facilitate and lead IEP meetings as LEA representative as secondary task. 12. Provide growth opportunities for both new and veteran staff through mentoring, transformational coaching, and professional development (includes organizing, planning, leading) with emphasis on improving staff practices around IEP implementation. Coaching individuals and teams. 13. Consult, develop and implement strategies with principals, pupil services staff, and special education teachers regarding individual student needs. 14. Data driven decision making regarding specially designed instruction working collaboratively with curriculum support professional(s), special education staff, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes. 15.
