Summary of Responsibilities:

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and supervising the effective and efficient use of health and medical related services for Transformations at Minnesota facility. The DON is also the acting Infection Control Officer, responsible for the prevention, education, and documentation of any infectious agents. The DON is responsible for an on-call rotation, coordinating the schedule, and covering shifts as the needs arise. The DON is responsible for the hiring process of new nurses. The DON works closely with the EVP of Nursing to oversee all operations of the nursing department.

Essential Job Functions:

· Work closely with the EVP of Nursing to oversee all operations of the nursing department.

· Works closely with the Lead Nurses to assist with scheduling, infection control, and
inventory counts.

· Coordinates all scheduling needs for the Nursing Department

· Ensures that all shifts are covered. If the DON is not able to cover a shift, they will reach
out to the Lead Nurse who will be responsible for covering the shift.

· DON is responsible for all interviews, hiring, and onboarding of new nurses in the
department.

· Follow eRX procedure for ordering of medications

· Will order all maintenance medications (IE: Suboxone, Vivitrol, Sublucade) – DON can
delegate this task to the Lead Nurse but must ensure it is handled properly

· Monitoring of infection control data and monthly rounds

· Ordering of all medication and supplies for the department

· Participate in on-call needs for after hour/weekend needs

· Work closely with the Pharmacy Consultant and meet with them monthly for inspections.

· Complete daily chart audits

· Balance the providers schedule as needed

· Facilitates quarterly nursing meetings/trainings

· Attends clinical meetings as part of the interdisciplinary team member

· Ensure Emergency Weather & Holiday scheduling is in place. If short on Team A, DON will
be Team A

· Complete coaching and disciplinary actions as needed

· Develops and implements standards of nursing practice and nursing protocols for the
Company; provides nursing expertise and input into the formulation of departmental
policies and participates in strategic planning for the department; approves nursing and
clinical nursing procedures; ensures that all staff is appropriately certified; develops
orientation program for nursing staff.

· Establishes and maintains on-going training programs for nursing staff; periodically
reviews and updates departmental nursing protocols to ensure they remain current;
establishes and reviews department-wide nursing performance measures and outcomes;
provides direction and consultation to operations managers to improve nursing
performance and outcomes; reviews medical aspects of nursing staff performance and
may recommend disciplinary actions.

· Analyzes the utilization of nursing staff in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness
of nursing staff allocations and deployments; collaborates with department managers
and staff to identify trends and nursing needs; develops long range plans for nursing
needs and utilization; plans, develops and may implement new projects or programs.

· Collaborates with departmental and clinical managers to identify and solve departmental
issues requiring nursing expertise; works to promote and enhance quality health care for
clients

· Serves as a link between the nursing staff and other departments, represents the
department on various committees.

· Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and
nursing practice standards.

· Ensures that all DHS, AHCA, and Joint Commission standards are being met.

· Develops and maintains documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage
that assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations and TTC Inc. policies and
procedures.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Adhere to all company policies and safety rules, guidelines & procedures.

· Maintain an action plan in the event of possible widespread contamination.

Necessary Abilities:

· Knowledge of Clients Rights and treats all clients with dignity and respect in a consistent
caring manner understands the principles of addiction and psychiatric treatment

· Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws

· Computer Knowledge a must, as well as experience with Electronic Medical Records
systems

· The DON must have good communication and leadership skills and the ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers

· Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

· The DON must be able to represent the department on controversial issues with tact and
diplomacy

· Must be organized, disciplined and have good management skills and the ability to
motivate the nursing team.

· Flexibility to adapt to changes within the department and be able to cover shifts if the
needs arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; prefer specialized training in psychology,
mental health or substance abuse

· Valid RN Nursing license in the state of Minnesota

· Four years of progressively responsible experience in nursing, preferably in the
substance abuse field, including two years of administrative or supervisory experience; or
a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the
employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and
abilities

· All employees may be required to work before, during and/or immediately after a natural
or man-made disaster and/or holidays.
