TITLE: KITCHEN SUPERVISOR/COOK LOCATION: Vel Phillips Middle School HOURS: 6:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. (7.75 hours)***HOURS MAY SHIFT DUE TO FINALIZED SCHOOL SCHEDULE/BUISNESS NEEDS*** 169 school year days +3 to open For 2023-2024 school year, early start will be required to set up/train in new kitchen. Summer Hours may be required with this position SALARY RANGE: $20.50-$22.90 STARTING DATE: On or about August 21st, 2023 QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Associate Degree preferred, but not required. 2. Two years supervisory experience; preferably in food services. 3. Two years computer experience; knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and database preferred. 4. Able to make independent decisions in a fast paced environment. 5. Able to interact tactfully, effectively, and courteously with students, staff, and other persons encountered in the course of work. 6. Able to give clear and concise directions. 7. Such other qualifications as the Board of Education may find acceptable. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Supervise and coordinate middle school production kitchen. 2. Estimate production needs and plan daily production schedules. 3. Supervise the storage and care of foods and supplies. 4. Supervise middle school lunch service. 5. Order miscellaneous menu items. 6. Assume responsibility for the security of money from middle school food services until it has been turned over to proper authorities. 7. Supervise food preparation and packing. Responsible for the quality and safe handling of all foods served. 8. Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas. 9. Actively participate in Wisconsin School Food Services Association and the American School Food Services Association. Attend Department of Public Food Bureau food and nutrition management development courses. 10. Prepare items for lunch daily according to menu. 11. Maintain records of production and service. 12. Inspect the kitchen, cooking and mixing utensils, and employees for cleanliness and sanitary purposes. 13. Assume responsibility for checking that all equipment in the cafeteria is in safe, working condition, and notify the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed. 14. Alert food services director of food and supply needs in a timely fashion. 15. Assist in the development of menus and recipes. 16. Keep informed of latest trends, developments, and products in the area of food service. 17. Perform such other duties as assigned. 18. Manage special diet meals. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
