CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ASSISTANT

We are seeking a PART TIME Construction Project Assistant who can assist the Contractor or Project Manager with various tasks related to the construction process with a primary focus on pre-production and client relations. The Coordinator will work alongside project teams to ensure subcontractor efficiency, maintain strong relationships, meet schedules, satisfy clients, and deliver high quality homes.

The right candidate will be a team player who is also able to work well alone and also able work and communicate well with individuals of different skill levels and from various backgrounds, personalities and nationalities.

The Assistant is able to think independently and critically, and have a desire and curiosity that allows them to solve problems in various ways. A basic understanding or interest in construction is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Performs product research related to the preparation of construction bids, proposals or various phases in the project life cycle
• Presents options/solutions/proposals to Contractor, Project Manager, client or other involved parties
• Assists with vendor and subcontractor coordination, such scheduling, onboarding, and resolving issues
• Performs a variety of project related administrative tasks such as material orders, invoice payments, etc.
• May assist with monitoring and evaluating project related contractors to ensure adherence to approved plans, specs and quality standards
• May walk projects and monitor construction progress and elevate areas of concern to Contractor or Project Manager
• Coordinates, schedules, and occasionally accompanies city and third party inspectors as needed
• May assists with performing quality control checks of projects at various phases in the project life cycle

Abilities

• Must have basic knowledge of and comfort with simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, fractions, etc and methods of measurement, etc
• Must be able to complete a set of given tasks in a timely manner
• Must be able to think critically to solve problems efficiently
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment in various conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and occasionally, exposure to dust and debris
• Must be able to read and follow instructions, communicate clearly and effectively
• Must be able to review and understand blueprints and drawings when necessary

Other Requirements

• Possess a valid driver license and well maintained vehicle with ability to drive to job sites, vendors, etc. in the Greater Houston area
• Be able to sit, stand and bend for multiple hours within the work day

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Choose your own hours
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Houston, TX: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Administrative: 2 years (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 50% (Required)
