Marketing and Communication Specialist

Responsibilities
● Manage NDCEL’s website

  • Make pages for upcoming events that contain all necessary information, registration links, and promotional material
  • Create and maintain an easily navigable website
  • Write and post news stories
  • Manage live feed
  • Update events feed
  • Communicate the values and purpose of NDCEL for internal and external stakeholders

● Manage NDCEL’s social media platforms

  • Communicate the necessity of NDCEL in the lives of administrators
  • Market NDCEL events and programs
  • Communicate the positive narratives of North Dakota schools
  • Plan content
  • Create content

● Assist with conference execution

  • Make all visual content for conference(s)
  • Help with the flow of conference(s)
  • Photograph event
  • Post content of the event
  • Talk and get to know members
  • Care for members and conference(s) attendees
  • Help with set up and take down of the conference(s)
  • Help as needed on day of conference and leading up to the conference(s)

● Aid in sponsorships and partnerships

  • Create sponsorship packages packets for events and yearly partnerships
  • Write marketing emails to send to potential sponsors
  • Create promotional material and marketing signs for sponsorships and partners
  • Assist in awareness of partners amongst NDCEL members

● Communicate to NDCEL members need-to-know information

  • Send out marketing emails for NDCEL events
  • Send out reminders of deadlines
  • Send calendar invites and reminders leading up to events to registrants

● Market NDCEL conferences and programs

  • Plan marketing campaigns to drive impactful story-telling and clear messaging
  • Circulate open registrations at appropriate times for administrators
  • Identify and tailor messaging to our stakeholders and members

● Manage, create, and work with vendors to produce all visual content for NDCEL Conference programs

  • Business cards

  • Create and send out feedback surveys to members for events, services, and polling the field.
  • Bring those results back to the team to make actionable plans to improve our services, brand, and relationships.

  • Circulate newsletter to the members
  • Manage and reproduce ads

● Construct and execute ideas to promote, elevate, and serve the needs of NDCEL

● Perform additional administrative and communications tasks as needed and assigned

Job Description
NDCEL is seeking a Marketing and Communication Specialist to help drive impactful story-telling, ensuring the organization's strategy and objectives are met. As a marketing and communications specialist, you’ll lead aspects of NDCEL's communications strategy and produce creative campaigns and assets that will increase brand awareness and encourage stakeholder engagement; and work with NDCEL team members to create and maintain a favorable image with members, the public, and various stakeholders.

NDCEL is looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, is a self-starter, has the drive to learn, can work successfully individually and in a team setting, works well with others, and will aid our office in being a well-oiled machine. The understanding of these job duties is a starting point and will amend and shift based on office needs and individual ability.

NDCEL is a small but mighty team. Each team member has roles that they have ownership of, oversee, and elevate value that role brings to NDCEL.

Minimum Qualifications

  • To prosper in this position, a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations,

Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related area of study is required.

  • Relevant work experience in media relations may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confident, articulate, and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Dependable, organized, self-motivated, resourceful, and flexible.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and

Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. We do like Canva because we have our other teammates hop on and edit schedules and such as we collaborate on projects, it seems to be easier for our team. We can negotiate Adobe Creative Suite since it is the industry's standard.

Benefits

Hiring Salary: based on experience plus the benefits package (range:
40,000-60,000), which includes a paid family health insurance plan and 20 paid holidays, and a generous retirement package (retirement package is eligible after a year). This position is a Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm position, closed over lunch with summer hours.

The North Dakota Council of Educational Leaders is the state professional association devoted exclusively to protecting educational leaders' interests and making their interests known in all educational matters in North
Dakota.

It is composed of ten associations (see State Affiliates) that include superintendents, secondary principals, elementary principals, county superintendents, special education directors, vocational education directors, school business officials, athletic directors, technical directors, and regional education agency directors.

The purpose of the NDCEL is to establish communications among the members of the constituent associations to achieve mutual goals, achieve higher standards, give sound counsel to state and community leaders, and improve the status of school administrators in North Dakota.

The NDCEL provides a wide variety of services to its members.
