Milos Wine Bar is a concept by Estiatorio Milos, located at our Hudson Yards location. At Milos Wine Bar, we offer a hand-selected, meticulously curated list of more than 50 Greek wines, all available by the glass in a casual atmosphere. Our philosophy has always been to provide a convivial place to socialize, share a glass of wine with friends and neighbours, and learn about Greek viticulture.

The bartender/sommelier is responsible for creating memorable experiences for our guests at the Wine Bar. They will be working behind the bar, on the floor, and at the tasting table with the rest of the team to ensure clear communication and impeccable service, all while upholding Milos Wine Bar’s vision, mission & culture.

Primary roles and responsibilities

• Greets guests with a warm and friendly demeanour upon arrival
• Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with guests, staff, and neighbouring businesses
• Completes opening and closing tasks as required
• Uses their wine knowledge to educate and guests about our extensive wine list
• Suggests appropriate pairings tailored to individual guest preferences; suggests courses, pairings and explains any off-menu dishes
• Ensures stations are always well-stocked with necessary stock before, during and after shifts
• Engages in on-going educational opportunities
• Takes orders from guests and ensures accuracy when entering into the POS system
• Processes payments
• Handles guest complaints and inquiries with grace; escalates to management when necessary
• Follows all Health & Safety policies and F&B procedures; maintains sanitation to DOH standards
• Supports and assists fellow team members whenever possible

Requirements

• A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Professional, friendly, and punctual
• Has a strong passion for wine culture
• Knowledge of POS system, an asset
• Works well independently
• Able to multi-task and works well in a fast-paced environment
