JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg is seeking a n Admissions Counselor ( Enrollment Services Specialist ) to provid e c onsultative services to prospective and current students and their families , facilitate admissions, determine financial aid eligibility , and evaluate applications .

Job Responsibilities:

  • Counsel and advise prospective students/families regarding enrollment through the student life cycle

  • Responsible for providing in-take services

  • Respond to direct requests from individual applicants, parents, and counselors through phone, email, and assisting visitors to the office

  • Evaluate and analyze credentials on students’ applications to determine eligibility for financial assistance, admissions applications

  • Create and maintain Graduate Recruitment focused CRM campaign(s) to assist in the recruitment of graduate students.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications campaign, consisting of interactions with prospective students, providing institutional support to faculty to assist with messaging, and assuring timely responsiveness to interested students.

  • Co-supervise admissions tour guides and/or student employees

  • Represent the University during special programs, recruitment trips, campus visits, and/or financial aid events, including extensive travel to regional and out-of-state events

  • Evaluate readmission applications and add advance standing credits required for graduation; evaluate records for retroactive drop/adds, withdrawals, cancellations, and grade changes

  • Review, analyze, assess, and process information, records, and transcripts for determining academic credit and eligibility for degrees and/or specialized programs

  • Present at recruitment and/or student aid and/or enrollment services events for prospective and current students on behalf of the University and/or campus

  • Create and implement outreach programs/presentations targeted to specific populations

  • Work and collaborate with other University units/campuses to develop and deliver a consistent message to prospective and current students during the enrollment life cycle

  • Manage application follow-up by running reports, develop communication strategies to reach students with active applications, and maintain reports/spreadsheets for special populations

Education

  • This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Plus 1 year of related experience

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History

  • Federal B ureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
