Description
The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is a multi-faceted agency that provides services and programs to enhance the self-sufficiency of families; improve safety and permanency for children and vulnerable adults; and engage families and community partners in a collaborative decision-making process.

DCBS offers an opportunity to assist individuals and families applying for public benefits in the commonwealth. We are seeking an Administrative Specialist who is driven to succeed in helping people and the vulnerable population. The Administrative Specialist will provide administrative support to staff who determine eligibility in various public assistance programs. The employee is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Collects and analyzes data to write and document administrative reports
  • Reviews operational records and reports from operating units to determine that program requirements are being met
  • Files personnel information and follows retention schedules
  • Enter timesheets into KHRIS System and maintains payroll records
  • Maintains files, logs, manuals, and other documents
  • Operates personal computer, office machines or other office equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

  • The ability to work well under pressure
The position you are applying for has access to or use of federal tax information (FTI) or meets the statutory definition of front-line staff. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High School Graduate

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in business, administrative work, research, or clerical experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: College will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
