Job Description

Key Role:

Work with a highly skilled team in a dynamic Department of Defense environment to gather, analyze, translate, and compose technical information into clear, intelligible documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel across a diverse group of stakeholders. Facilitate meetings and conduct research and informational interviews to gather and refine information. Ensure the use of proper technical terminology and English language mechanics. Develop tailored technical materials and visualize ideas to bridge an understanding between technical SMEs, functional researchers, and DoD partners. Support technical staff in the development, writing, preparation, editing, and review of a wide variety of technical documentation, including requirements analysis, reports, briefings to senior leadership, and architecture documentation. Comprehend and apply style guides. Recommend overall organization and layout, mode of presentation, and publication method. Develop publication concepts for best communication of subject matter. Review technical literature prepared by other staff members for content, coverage, and clarity. Execute a variety of tasks to meet client needs and priorities, such as strategic planning, stakeholder engagement planning, and technical writing, with little to no supervision. Mentor and direct junior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with technical writing in a professional work environment

  • Experience with working in an Agile or IT environment

  • Experience with using the latest Microsoft Office tools to develop technical reports and build client briefings with minimal supervision

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations to the client in a clear, concise style

  • Ability to pull technical data from others and present it in a way that tells a story

  • Ability to visualize and describe processes and methodologies

  • Ability to apply industry best practices to helping the non-technical comprehend the technical

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with the Department of Defense or military

  • Experience with presenting to and interacting with senior level clients

  • Experience with leading teams to deliver client ready products with minimal supervision

  • Experience with design thinking or human centered design

  • Ability to provide sample work products

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
