Job Description

The Marketing and Communications office within Penn State Global at University Park is accepting applications for a student writer to join our team this summer with intent to remain with the team through fall and/or spring. This position will report to the senior marketing communications specialist, under supervision by the associate director for marketing and communications. The student writer position is part-time (10-15 hours per week) at the University Park campus. Some work may be completed remotely, while other work may require an in-person presence. The successful candidate will work with the supervisor to find an equitable arrangement.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Completing a monthly Global Alumni Spotlight, including the process of contacting, interviewing, drafting, and posting to the newswire

  • Writing news releases for Penn State Global programming, deadlines, and events

  • Assisting with the creation of written and presentation materials for the Vice Provost for Global, such as scripts, speeches, and messaging

  • Collaborating with other members of the Marketing and Communications team, including other student workers, to create content for various platforms

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

These positions would be exciting opportunities for current undergraduate or graduate students interested in the field of marketing and communications with a passion for promoting global learning experiences. The ideal candidate should have a background in marketing, should be a skilled writer, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment both independently and within a team. Preference will be given to candidates who have been or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to marketing, communications, English, Journalism, or other related fields.
