Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is seeking to fill the position of Web Developer. This position is responsible for using their knowledge of programming languages to code websites and web applications. In addition, the individual in this role will assist members and Corporate Office staff with reporting and technical support.

This position will closely collaborate with Corporate Office staff and AKA members to support sorority operations. The role is accountable for building and deploying new front-end features to our WordPress website and developing and deploying digital marketing assets. As well as designing, writing, and editing website content while understanding UI, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions and standards.

General Responsibilities

  • Optimize user experience and site content including HTML, site structure, page layout and navigation.
  • Build email marketing campaigns in collaboration with corporate communications team.
  • Adhere to the organization’s core values and operations tenants.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance of WordPress website.
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve member issues in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Interface with members and vendors regarding website needs.
  • Identify technology needs and make recommendations to business decision makers.
  • Use effective communication skills when responding to member emails and attending meetings.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 3 (Three) years’ hands-on web development work experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with WordPress/PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and Salesforce.
  • Experience integrating front-end code with server-side technology.
  • Extensive experience managing third-party vendors.
  • Excellent written and exceptional verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
