The Role

As a Valuation Manager you will have oversight responsibilities covering specific aspects of pricing operations performed by the team, with a focus on derivatives and alternative investments. The role requires expertise related to overall security valuation with a deeper technical knowledge of complex investments. Your responsibilities will not only include daily deliverable oversight but also intake assessment and onboarding of new products, ensuring operational readiness and sustainability. You will collaborate with other teams within FFIO and business professionals across the firm. Provide leadership of our Valuations team ensuring accuracy and timeliness of our critical deliverables.

  • Provide functional area expertise, oversight, problem resolution, training, analysis, and reporting as required across a variety of deliverables.
  • Craft and deliver optimized and scalable operational processes, ensuring risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Support the timeliness and completeness of our critical deliverables.
  • Provide support for all sophisticated valuation and risk metric issues
  • Provide expertise in the assessment of new products and investments as it relates to security valuation, ensuring proper operation preparedness

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent with 6+ years of experience or master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of various derivatives instruments (Futures/swaps/options/real estate investments etc.) covering US and Europe markets are a must.
  • Experience working in derivatives risk, valuation or pricing for a bank or hedge fund.
  • End to end problem solving capabilities from defining complex problems to synthesizing key points and drawing out connections to broader trends and business priorities
  • A self-starter who is assertive, independent, and can work in an ambiguous environment without close supervision on concurrent projects.
  • You have strong analytical skills and understand complex requirements and translate them into pragmatic solutions.
  • Able to determine root cause of an issue and guide staff to a resolution as well as collaborates in the proactive mitigation.
  • Ability to foster effective relationships, and to develop the credibility and standing to inform and challenge senior business partners
  • Actively partner with associates to ensure relevant on-the-job development and career growth.

The Team

The Valuation Team is a part of Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit, specifically the Fund Operations division, consisting of: Fund Accounting, Valuations, Alternative Investments, and Expense Billing & Treasury Operations. The collective Fund Operations team provides accounting and pricing services to all of the Fidelity Retail, Institutional products and ETFs, supporting multiple asset managers (i.e. FMR, SAI, GEODE, and FIC). These services include books and records maintenance, securities' pricing, and net asset value, yield and distribution rate calculations. The division is comprised of 6 business units, representing approximately 280 associates located primarily in 2 sites; Merrimack, NH, and Westlake, TX.
