Roles & Responsibilities:

The Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York City) seeks applicants for a position that will involve analysis of human matrices for biomarkers. This position will aid in liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis in support of both research and service activities to quantify biomarkers of exposure to environmental chemicals in human matrices.

  • Conducts a variety of research experiments using advanced sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Coordinates project activities to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborates with the Lab Head in the development of new experiments and research techniques.
  • Assists in the implementation of standardized protocols for experiments and training purposes.
  • Assists the Lab Head with publications by extracting and compiling data, reviewing and editing articles for publication.
  • Performs other related dutie

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in sciences or related field preferred (major in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Pharmacy/Toxicology/Environmental and/or Public Health is desirable, although other related Sciences are considered)
  • 5 years in a research environment with experience in chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry instrumentation and analysis
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of standard research concepts

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,000.00 - $99,999.98 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
