Job Summary
The Environmental Occupational Medicine and Epidemiology (EOME) Program in the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health seeks to investigate and prevent health risks associated with environmental and occupational hazards by conducting original research and outstanding professional education. The Ultimate goal for our research is to provide scientific basis for prudent and responsible decisions in environmental, occupational, and health standards, and to inform and inspire clinical and public health practice.
The EOME Program has an opening for a Research Assistant to coordinate and oversee it's ongoing NIH-funded environmental reproductive health studies. The Research Assistant will work closely with the study PI, Dr. Shruthi Mahalingaiah, to ensure successful implementation and achievement of study goals.
Position Description
Duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinating a portfolio of research projects for environmental and women's health studies, including providing oversight of the bio-sample processing and storage.
- Facilitating communication efforts across the multi-disciplinary research team, including scheduling meetings, developing and implementing research activities, providing regular updates and reports of study progress, and coordinating with administrative and clinical research teams to ensure smooth functioning of research studies' efforts for Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Mass General Hospital.
- Managing a human bio-samples research and compliance with IRB rules and regulations for the Mahalingaiah Lab studies. Including maintaining, developing, and providing assistance with IRB protocols, progress reports, data safety management plans, data usage agreements, and material transfer agreements.
- Processing storing biological materials collected from study participants and maintain sample inventory records
- Maintaining data management systems and ongoing data collection efforts for research studies
- Performing other duties as assigned
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of one year from date of hire with the possibility of extension. Some night and weekend work will be required and compensation accordingly. This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Cambridge/Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, California (exempt staff only), Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington).

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ year of related research experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Writing sample is required
Additional Qualifications and Skills
The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a public health or medical science discipline is a strong plus
- Experience in in research; in higher education is a strong plus
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with statistical software such as Stata/SAS/R
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work; comfortability in navigating ambiguity
- Remains organized and detail-oriented while efficiently completing deliverables
- Takes initiative, asks questions
- Collaborative team player
