The Role
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for the architecture, engineering and implementation activities relating to Lumen’s hosting infrastructure. Key to success in this role is the engineering, construction and maintenance of hosting environments that are operationally efficient.
Primary duties involve:
The Senior Planning Engineer may serve as an escalation point from the customer facing support organization. They are expected to act tactically with a strategic focus. To be successful, must be capable of translating business goals and requirements into an IT solution and/or approach to meet business needs with moderate assistance. Excellent analytical ability including strong research analysis and conceptual skill is required. Must understand processes and ad to standards. Must contribute to evolution of preexisting designs, develop new designs as needed, and help implement solutions to meet business needs. Must have a working knowledge of technology, systems, and applications for all involved components of a solution in order to optimize the deployment strategy. Must be well organized and possess effective interpersonal skills, excellent verbal skills and excellent written communication skills. Works collaboratively with peers and business partners on technical and environmental issues that affect environment stability and scale. Must be able to operate within a flexible work schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays due to the nature of Lumen’s 24x7 business model.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
