National News Reporter III/Personal Finance Reporter

USA TODAY’s Money & Consumer team is seeking a personal finance reporter who can chronicle how Americans spend, save, invest and lose money through a focus on financial planning and budgeting -- using a variety of storytelling forms -- including on-the-news TTPs, quick-turn features, explainers and live story formats.

The reporter will be responsible for staying abreast of the shifting attitudes and behaviors toward money, and for getting ahead of the competition.

This reporter should also be able to cover investing and, selectively, milestones moments in the markets that could have a wide impact on personal finances.

We are looking for a journalist willing to experiment with new storytelling forms and to tell stories that reflect America’s diversity of experiences with and perspectives about money.

Responsibilities also include writing about seasonal personal finance topics such as college aid or end-of-year financial planning. And when markets become turbulent or another major financial story breaks, we need a reporter who can work with colleagues to create daily content and quick-turn enterprise.

Remote candidates in any state except Alaska & Hawaii are welcome.
