A leading Fiber-Optic Internet Service Provider (ISP), in the Northwestern Ohio area is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their growing team. The Network Engineer will be an integral part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing reliable, fast, and affordable Internet services to customers.


Network Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Plan, engineer, and design fiber plant facilities for inside and outside locations.
  • Collaborate with network engineering team to implement Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) fiber design and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON)/active fiber customer provisioning solutions for commercial clients.
  • Oversee new and ongoing projects while managing external contractors to ensure compliance with regulations and contractual agreements.
  • Maintain safe work conditions and provide education and training sessions for the fiber team.
  • Understand construction standards and techniques for outside plant (OSP) facilities to ensure compliance.
  • Develop proactive approaches to mitigate emergency conditions, such as power failures, fiber cuts, and other network failures.
  • Monitor fiber construction employees and contractors to maintain project timelines and budget.
  • Requisition materials and supplies for ongoing projects.
  • Conduct field surveys for underground and aerial construction.
  • Assist customer installation team with fiber facility assignments and access.
  • Renew permits as necessary.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Network Engineer Qualifications:

  • Read, interpret, and modify construction and survey documents both in electronic and printed form. Knowledge of surveying and construction staking.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and related legal requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scheduling.
  • Ability to work with computer-aided design (CAD), geographic information systems (GIS), and project management systems.
  • Knowledge of coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM), dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM), and gigabit passive optical network (GPON) networks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently.


Network Engineer Compensation:

  • $90,000-$100,000
  • Excellent benefits package
