Job Description
Logistics Team Lead responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead, develop and manage a domestic logistics team
- Develop strategy and solutions for new and existing customers by utilizing R+L Global Logistics full range of services to generate and strengthen business relationships and increase revenue
- Train your team how to effectively present a full range of services to customers, empowering them to build a complete logistics and supply chain solutions
- Ensure your team is proficient in utilizing our internal tools to negotiate and propose freight rates to the customer that generate strong margins
- Promote positive, ongoing communication with the Capacity Procurement Team and/or partner carriers to ensure loads are dispatched and guarantee the shipper and consignee are aware of any challenges that arise
- Mentors, motivates and develops team members to achieve individual, team and company goals and objectives
Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role leading high performance teams
- 3+ years’ sales and operations experience in a full truckload, third party logistics environment
- Strong team-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and cultivate relationships
- Ability to mentor, motivate and develop a team to effectively build relationships and negotiate with customers and carriers
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and complex environment while making timely decisions under pressure
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or similar field of study with emphasis in: International Business, Logistics/Supply Chain, Marketing, Psychology, Sales or Transportation preferred
- Prefer experience in all modes: dry van, expedited, flatbed, oversized loads, refrigerated, intermodal shipments
- Previous freight management software experience; McLeod a plus
