Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Bartender with a dynamic hospitality driven attitude to join our food & beverage team!
For nearly 100 years Monterey Peninsula Country Club has catered to a diverse Membership of more than 1,100 Members. We provide dining in five outlets amongst the Club House, Golf House, and two 18-hole golf courses.
As a Lead Bartender at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, we will ask you to:
- Serve as a captain behind the bar ensuring recipe consistency, service and quality.
- Provide ongoing training and constructive feedback to all team members working bartending shifts.
- Actively collaborate with management on the MPCC bar program to include creation of featured cocktails & liquor/beer/wine suggestions.
- Maintain all garnish preparation, mixer standards, and oversee all beverage and produce requisitions.
- Communicate inventory needs to management timely to ensure adequate supply is always available.
- Maintain/oversee all bar organization which includes, but not limited to, organization of liquor & wines storage rooms, glassware, replenishments, and sanitation and safety in all areas.
- Greet and acknowledge members and their guests by name, when known.
- Prepare drinks in accordance with Club recipe and/or industry standards at all times, including during high volume ticket times, with a friendly and welcoming disposition.
- Ensure prompt, cordial and accurate service of liquor, wine, and other drinks at assigned outlet.
- Ensure that all Responsible Beverage Service standards are adhered to including checking of ID and ceasing alcohol service when necessary. All concerns should immediately be reported to management.
- Take members and guests orders and inputs accurately and timely into POS system.
- Ensure members are charged accurately and correctly for all items consumed and correct member account is billed.
- Describe all menu items including the method of preparation, major ingredients, garnish, and method of presentation for all menu items in order to take food orders as requested.
- Ensure that side stations are maintained with adequate supplies and are clean, organized, and clear of debris.
- Ensure all services to Members are provided in a highly professional and efficient manner with strong attention to detail.
- Ensure all receipts generated at the bar are processed and retain according to Club procedures.
What we will need from you:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, menus, recipes and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read, understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of liquors, wines and beers and ability to describe each to Members and guests.
- Knowledge of general food service and bartending industry standards.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule with availability on holidays, weekdays, and weekends.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Possess Food Handler Certificate or can obtain within 30 days of hire date.
- Possess RBS certification or can obtain within 30 days of hire date.
- Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
