1 Work cooperatively with principals, professional staff, paraprofessional staff and Central Office administrators to lead, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of effective research based intervention practices in literacy at the district, school, and classroom level. 2 Provide literacy intervention services including: Using the district identified process for screening all students to identify those needing additional literacy support. Assisting classroom teachers in providing appropriate interventions. Providing small group and/or individual intervention services for targeted students. Monitoring the progress of all students at the school identified with literacy needs.
3 Daily reflective and responsive planning and preparation for each intervention based on careful observation, copious notes, and updated records. 4 Consistent progress monitoring of students served by the literacy interventionist Checking up on yourself first if a student is not making acceptable accelerative progress Reaching out to colleagues to review student records and/or observe 5 Commitment to continuous professional learning 6 Provide advocacy, expertise, and leadership in literacy for the following: Early literacy skills (ensure all K-2 teachers have the early literacy skills and tools needed to support effective instruction of the Reading Foundational standards). Development and implementation of grade level balanced assessment and intervention processes. Participate in Care Team and IEP meetings when necessary. 7 Coordinate regular meetings and classroom visits to maintain curricular and instructional continuity and consistency for students receiving interventions. 8 Provide leadership and coordination to develop, support, and implement district and school, data-driven academic performance improvement goals and school improvement plans. 9 Attend and participate in any elementary literacy meetings called by Central Office personnel. 10 Work with the Director of Curriculum and Elementary Literacy Director to assist in the identification of district and school professional development needs, and to plan and implement ongoing, meaningful professional development opportunities that support and improve student learning. 11 Perform other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Wisconsin Teacher Certification to teach one or more of the grade levels and content areas grades K-5, 316 license required, 17 (317) license preferred. 2. Three years of classroom teaching experience. 3. Demonstrated expertise in the area of literacy. 4. Demonstrated expertise in research based "best" instructional practices in literacy (from universal to targeted high intensity interventions) 5. Strong and effective leadership skills. 6. Work collaboratively and effectively with other professionals. 7. Must be willing to be trained aa a Reading Recovery Teacher.
