ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE TASKS
These tasks include answering incoming phone calls, logging service requests, taking classified advertising calls, and
may include greeting customers as they enter the building and administrative tasks such as data entry, querying reports
and updating internal databases. A focus on effective inter-personal communication is essential in this position.
SALES TASKS
1. Promote revenue growth by developing new profitable business through marketing our products and
services to new and existing customers on a daily basis throughout the target market areas.
2. Develop and implement effective sales strategies based on routine market research.
3. Research and strategize new product opportunities and present revenue projections based on custom rate
packages. Prepare and present information on new business opportunities that have revenue potential.
4. Develop a strong knowledge of digital products and generate profitable digital revenue growth.
5. Pursue leads to develop new business from non-advertisers and /or customers using competitive media.
6. Utilize a consultative sales approach to build strong client rapport. Effectively sell through good
communication skills, willingness to listen and sensitivity to customer needs.
7. Make effective sales presentations to advertisers, showing how the features and benefits of the
publication(s) can best serve their marketing needs. Presentations can range from a one-on-one informal
daily sales call, to a formal presentation for specific groups.
8. Provide exceptional customer service through communication, whether in writing, verbally, or with body
language, while remaining cognizant of context when interacting with anyone; staff, management,
community, customers and vendors.
9. Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients’ needs. Create product packages that enable
recurring business for our company with a diversified marketing campaign for our clients.
10. Negotiate and close advertising agreements with customers and follow up to ensure they’re receiving the
best possible customer service for each of their advertisement orders.
11. Generate creative solutions to meet client needs.
12. Aim to collect on accounts within 30 days of publication.
13. Provide accurate information and insertion orders: copy, run dates, rate cards/quotes, provide proper
contact info to the client, and minimize credits.
14. Attends and actively participates in scheduled sales meetings to stay abreast of sales information, trends
and policies. Contributes current account activity information and other related data as requested.
15. Regularly communicate sales information during department meetings, through email, and other forms
of communication.
16. Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations.
