The Study at Johns Hopkins is currently seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to guide and manage all HR programs, policies, and strategic objectives. This position will partner with operational leaders to establish an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes genuine hospitality, oversee recruitment efforts, and ongoing development of an exceptional workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the entire HR function for the Hotel and Restaurant, including but not limited to recruiting, training, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
  • Process weekly payroll, review time edits, pay code updates, time transfers, and sign-off on the final pre-transmission report to ensure accuracy of payroll payments.
  • Lead the recruiting and onboarding efforts for all hotel positions, which includes, but not limited to: job posting, interviewing, drug screening, and conducting background and reference checks.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and periodic training sessions. Assist department managers with their job training responsibilities to ensure completion and consistency with brand standards.
  • Coordinate and monitor the performance evaluation process. Assist department managers in writing annual performance reviews and developing measurable and achievable goals. Ensure merit increases are equitable and processed on time.
  • Direct and administer employee relations programs and activities such as employee recognition and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive workplace.
  • Partner with the executive committee to coach, counsel, and create accountability to the company policies and brand standards. Recommends actions to be taken to ensure optimal performance and manage all appropriate disciplinary measures.
  • Work with the corporate office to ensure benefits are administered accurately and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.


Fundamentals

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in Human Resources, with a proven advancement record and currently employed in a management position.
  • Skilled in the use of advanced, moderately complex, Human Resources software programs.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficient with US, State, and Local payroll tax regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments, external vendors, and guests.
