Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, performs delegated patient care and applies advanced technical skills in all endoscopy procedures and reprocessing of scopes and equipment.

Qualifications
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
In addition, completion of a recognized training program (such as courses provided through the University of Maryland Medical System, community colleges, United States Armed Forces with the attainment of Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Corpsman) or equivalent is required.
Successful completion of an advanced technical endoscopic skills seminar course is preferred.
BLS certification is required.
Work Orientation & Experience: Previous endoscopy or GI tech experience is preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to initiate emergency procedures is required. Ability to set up, operate and maintain all endoscopic equipment is required. Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and other healthcare team members to establish working relations that foster optimal quality of care are required. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
