Planned Parenthood Direct (“PPDirect”) is continuing the important work of Planned Parenthood Federation of America by providing access to sexual and reproductive health care from the convenience of an app.

We are looking to hire a dedicated Communications Officer to manage our internal and external communications to the PPDirect organization membership, Planned Parenthood affiliate partners that use the PPDirect platform, and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. You should be prepared to manage media requests and protect the PPDirect brand online at a highly politicized moment in time for reproductive health rights.

Position is full-time remote with periodic travel for team meetings. Applicants must be a green card holder or American citizen and reside in Eastern or Central U.S.A.

Compensation

$85,000/year based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our various stakeholders’ needs
  • Support the CEO in communicating to various stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Write/edit content for corporate communications, including presentations, website content, and quarterly/annual reports
  • Support CEO and other leadership team members with content/speeches they must create
  • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization at the direction of the CEO
  • Institute social listening protocols to manage the brand on social platforms
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database
  • Maintain records of media coverage
  • Coordinate responses to any hostile media or PR as it may arise

Requirements

  • Master's degree in journalism
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' relevant experience in a communications role
  • Impeccable verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with managing external communications diplomatically
  • Superlative time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to scribe meetings in support of the CEO or other leadership team members accurately and in real time
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
