ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures. 2. Treat all students, staff and parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience. 3. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff. 4. Administer drugs/prescription drugs by ingestion in accordance with school district policy. 5. Assist with the supervision of students. 6. Adhere to schedules and/or daily lesson plans. 7. Maintain open communication between assistant and teacher. 8. Administer positive forms of discipline in accordance with classroom or school behavior management strategies. 9. Ability to work with Autistic and Cognitive/Behavioral problems preferred. 10. Assist teacher in: A. maintaining classroom organization. B. providing support in an inclusion setting. C. reinforcing previously taught concepts as prescribed by the teacher in an individual or small group setting. D. preparing teaching materials under teacher direction, performing clerical responsibilities and making bulletin boards. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 1. May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement. 2. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be determined by the professional staff within the parameters of the master agreement, board of education policies, state statutes, and administrative rules.
1. High School diploma or its equivalent. 2. Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept. of Public Inst. #883 Handicapped Children’s Aide license. 3. Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) techniques or willingness to learn the techniques. 4. Current CPR and First Aid Training certification or commitment to obtain such upon employment. 5. Trained or willingness to be trained in Autism. 6. Ability to interact effectively with parents, students, staff, and others encountered on the job. 7. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. 8. Ability to perform basic language, writing, and computational skills. 9. Ability to staff the position for the scheduled work day. 10. Ability to work in an environment that may require demands involving physical interaction with students; within the parameters of state statutes. 11. Basic computer literacy and/or willing to expand skills. 12. In lieu of the above qualifications, the district may consider appropriate alternatives.
