Position summary: JMT Architecture’s Higher Education Studio seeks a passionate architect to join our growing team dedicated to higher education facilities featuring teaching and learning spaces that are both innovative and technology rich, embracing the newest trends in pedagogy.

Our studio arrangement successfully combines the technical competence, variety of talent, and management expertise available within the larger firm with the hands-on, personal service of a small firm. Our studio provides focused expertise in architecture, interior design, programming, planning, and research to create inspirational environments that foster learning and intellectual enrichment.

Responsible for performing all phases of architectural work from conceptual design through construction administration.


Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Responsible for specific technical and design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs.
  • Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects.
  • Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs.
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Review completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations.
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Required Skills
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, SketchUp, or AutoCAD
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Required Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters of Architecture
  • Minimum of 8+ years of architectural design experience
  • Professional Architect License
  • Experience in higher education/campus planning
  • Experience with design, graphic and presentation skills
  • Strong design portfolio
  • Experience with BIM modeling or rendering and modeling software
  • Experience working on projects from $1 Million - $100 Million
  • Design capabilities required

Qualifications preferred

  • Masters of Architecture
  • LEED AP accreditation preferred.
  • Experience with design graphic software
  • Experience in programming, planning and design of higher education facilities

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
